    Good News on ‘Internet Marketing’

  • Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 1:59 am Visitor says “Why am I Here?”

We always stand in the shoes of website designer/developer, so when we visit our own website and ask ourselves “why am I here?” we always have thousands of reasons.

But, how about your visitors? They wouldn’t be there just to check for bugs, or finding out what to do to make the design looks cleaner. So give them some reasons to stay.

Obviously, user will get into one website at the first place because they find useful information inside it. Power of content plays an important role in this game. When we decide who would our target visitors be, we should already know everything that matters to them. That way, we know what kind of information we should fill up our website with.

We give them good content, they come, and now make them stay longer. Users will likely try to dig for more. Provide links to related content on every page, let them explore inside our website. Also it’s a good idea to give them more than text content. We can always use flash or video streaming to give user more experience.

Digital life isn’t only accessible from PC anymore. Smart phone users are everywhere these days. And they also like to let their friends know where they are and what they’ve been eating for lunch. Social media and smart phone unites to allow them do these things.

Indonesia has been one of the biggest markets for smart phones especially Blackberry. Indonesia also ranks 4th in the world in term of Facebook user number. Not only that, Indonesia also is the Twitter capital in Asia with 2,34% of world tweet (ranked 6th).

Both Facebook and Twitter is strongly supported with many choices of mobile clients, so people don’t need to open their mobile browser to access those social media. They also integrate with SMS service, allowing more people to stay up to date with a phone with no internet connection.

This means millions of people in Indonesia will have access to Facebook and Twitter 24/7. These fact show that Social Media Optimization is still one of the best marketing tool available when we want to deal with Indonesian market.

  • Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10:17 am I am confused! Facebook Page Vs. Facebook Group

    I'm Confused

This question has popped up so many times during our meeting with prospect clients.

For our digital marketing campaign in social media marketing strategy, which one I should choose between Facebook Page or Facebook Group? What are the differences?

Facebook has two networking tools, Facebook group and Facebook page, and you can:

    1. Create / Join a Facebook group
    2. Create / Join a Facebook fan page

You can only test these tools by having your own profile account, and create your own Group and Page. We have decided to promote and to create both of them for Omeoo Media:

    Omeoo Media Facebook Group
    Omeoo Media Facebook Page

Okay, we are going to leave this article for now. Join to our Facebook group and become a fan to our Facebook page, and stay tune for the second article, which is “the battle of Facebook Page Vs. Facebook Group.”

  • Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 2:56 am Today’s Buzz: Google Buzz

If you open your Gmail today, you’ll find some offer from Google to experience Google Buzz. This is Google’s answer to social web trends.

Google Buzz is a tool to build or get involved in a happening conversation. It’s similar to Twitter’s timeline, and Facebook’s live feed. But the difference is Buzz is built inside Gmail. We don’t need to start from scratch.

Followers will be automatically added with the people we email and chatted the most. Google Buzz can also integrate with huge social web such as Picasa, YouTube, Blogspot, Flickr, even Twitter. That means any activity you do on those connected site will be posted in Buzz.

One more thing, because Google Buzz is inside Gmail, we can still track incoming email while Buzzing around.

  • Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 5:52 am Tweets in Google Search

The biggest search engines in town today, Google and Bing, have hooked up with Twitter and integrate tweets with their search result.

Twitter is obviously the most used microblogging today. Information updates are happening really fast in here, often faster than traditional news portal. This is why search engine giants think why don’t also give people tweets in the search result… in REAL TIME.

Speaking about search result isn’t complete without knowing the ranking system. Each Google and Bing has different way on deciding who gets the top spots.

Bing sees numbers of followers in the ranking system. That means a user with more followers has the bigger chance to be the king of the hill. Be careful on tweet duplicating, the penalty will be the same as duplicate content of conventional web page; your tweet would rank lower.

Google uses different criteria. Instead of number of follower Google is more interested in followers reputation. The system works similarly with Google Page Rank system. The more a user is mentioned by the followers, the more reputation he has.

Another rumour is Google will also use geo-location data to determine the rank of tweets. No detail about this has been come out. Let’s just wait how huge this Google and Twitter collide.
