Hi all. This tutorial is about making a photograph looks more like Chinese comic. Soft looking and all. I always get jealous when I see their artwork, and I am still hoping that I could draw and color like them. Anyway, let’s start practicing.
Step01:
This is the image I used. It’s looking modern and things. You know..

Step02:
duplicate the background image (ctrl+j), then select the new layer, desaturate them (image>adjustment>desaturate).

This is how it should look now.

Step03:
duplicate layer 1 again by pressing ctrl+j, then invert it by pressing ctrl+i.

this is how ...

I know, you know how to desaturate an image, just press shift+ctrl+u. But if you want to color them, there is a lot more steps, and here’s the steps.
Step01:
First this is my image. I take this image from http://angelinajolie.celebden.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/Angelina%20Jolie%20hair%20style.jpg

Anyway, the first thing you have to do is double click the background layer and activate it.

Just so it was a little cleaner, make a group of it.

Step02:
Then using pentool,

try to draw path around her. Don’t worry about her hair yet.

Step03:
go to path box, and right click>make selection.

Set the feather into 0.5pixel

Step03
Then go to image>adjustments>hue/saturation. Make the hue into 40, saturation into 25, and ...
